Introduction- 10 Books and forward

I’ve now written 10 books and I’ve learned a lot throughout my learning journey. I’d like to take a moment to share what I know and wish I knew when I began.

Process Tips

· Identify authors and books that resonate with you as particularly influential.

  • My role models are David Maister, Stephen Bungay, Cal Newport, Ben Horowitz.

· Remove distractions. Close your web browser, turn off phone notifications, find a private location.

· Take long walks by yourself to process thoughts and give your mind time to work through different ideas.

· Use a note-taking app on your phone to capture ideas for your book when away from your computer.

· Don’t drink alcohol while writing.

· NEVER copy from the internet and paste into your book. Always note what content isn’t yours. Rewrite it so it will be original.

· Think about your audience and connect with them. Understand who you want to write to. Adapt your style and delivery to meet their needs.
