Passion.

Without passion and caring about the idea that you are about to transcribe to words, you won’t be effective as a writer. It just doesn’t work.

The ultimate success is to combine what you are passionate about as a writer with what your readers are passionate about. Yes, you can sit there and force yourself to meet a quota, but the story doesn’t come out the same. Passion matters because readers can quickly spot the difference between an article written as if the author had a gun to their head and one where the author is presenting original thinking that adds value and tells an exciting story.

Stories that are blasted through content mills or are written solely for SEO taste stale and have a funny smell. You can’t hope to write and engage an audience if you don’t start writing with the right energy. When you have people writing out of their depth, area of expertise, or even interest, they lose the magic.

You want to care enough about what you’re writing that you can’t wait to get started. You want to have an entire story in your mind that is waiting to be unraveled- That’s passion.

When you’re passionate, the writing process is natural and fluid, and your personality and style shine through the screen. When you force creative work, the words clunk down one by one and feel…
