Buying shit you don’t need to impress people you don’t like to live a life you can’t afford
This world is crazy.
It’s hard to go a day or two without seeing an article or post where someone shares they are buying luxury goods or a lifestyle they can’t afford.
Money in- money out.
And I guess the older I get, the more it seems the younger generations can’t get enough of Gucci belts, fancy cars, and homes in HCOL locales.
When many people look at life, they see their take-home pay as the amount that can be pissed away.
And employers love that. They know people are locked into their lifestyles, and every increase they give them only tightens the knot further.
The puzzle is that those who are least well-to-do try the hardest to seem to try the hardest to reflect non-existent wealth with constant flexes, social media posts, and outlandishness.
I take a different path, and it works better.
My wife and I sit with a 2022 Hyundai Elantra, and 2015 Subaru Outback paid off, with a $2,000/month mortgage expense left on a $272k mortgage, and have no college debt (state schools for the win).
I love to dress like a weird dad, and my wife dresses like a (sexy) cat hoarder.
