Member-only story
I’ve spent the last ten years of my life in the corporate world. Probably beginning five years ago, I also caught the entrepreneur bug and started a side hustle to create Udemy courses mainly. Since then, I’ve branched out to writing articles, building a social media presence on LinkedIn, and I have also written two books. In what I do, I have few equals.
However, effort-wise, the amount of time, energy, and money that I’ve spent on the non-career activities compared to the rewards has been wildly lopsided. To take stock, I have close to 11k LinkedIn followers whose value is indeterminant; I have a website and a Twitter. I’ve spent about a year of my life writing the books (80k words), and I’ve spent countless weekends and nights creating content and then filming, editing, and publishing it out into the world. I’ve presented at conferences and in webinars. I constantly read, think, and research to find interesting and fresh ideas to share out into the world in the hopes of attracting someone, anyone, into my funnel.
To date, though, I think my earnings from all of my side ventures are about $8k. In my content, I share basically all of the advice, guidance, and tips that have led me to my career in which I make roughly 20x that amount. If you were to follow in my footsteps, you’d probably earn what I earn.
