The Ultimate Proof People Don't Think for Themselves
According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions, churches, denominations, religious bodies, faith groups, tribes, cultures, and movements in the world currently.
Consider your parents' religion. Now consider your religion. Are they the same?
They shouldn't be if the odds were random. There is a .024% chance this would happen. Instead, The Pew Research Center finds that 76% of teens have the same religion as their parents.
Odd, right?
Not really. What this means is that fear and conformity form the core beliefs of most people.
If your parents believed ghosts lived in pumpkins, so would you. If your parents were born in India, you'd be a Hindu, while if you were born in Japan, you'd likely be into Shinto Buddhism.
Whether religion is real or not is up for debate, but what is clear is that most people do not think for themselves. Even when it comes to the most deeply held convictions, no deviation from what your parents taught you should be shocking.
When it comes to other factors in life, it then becomes much less baffling to explain herd mentality behaviors—food for thought.
