Why did I Become Educated? To say Eff You

My last and final full-time corporate job was a weird one.

It started with high hopes and promise and left with me quitting on a Monday, with a big “peace out,” allowing me to pivot full-time to the consulting and content business I’d been building for years.

Here’s my story:

I’ve been in the corporate world for 10 years. And in that time, working for 6 companies, I quickly moved up from cost accountant to FP&A Director.

I got things done, drove change and results, and minted a neat little name and reputation for myself.

Meanwhile, I earned every prestigious certification and degree to accelerate my journey. This combination gave me the leverage to go places, do things, and earn more than most people.

That was nice and all, but what I really valued with my education was the flexibility and freedom it afforded me. I suspected this would all come in handy one day.. and boy, did it ever.

Let me share some of the details of my last role to illustrate how education grants the ability to define and stand up for your values.
