Part 1: Life working under a psychopath CFO
Part 2: How an Accounting System Brought Down a CFO
The departure of my boss, the CFO gave me hope- Perhaps this would be a chance to be better recognized for my initiative and accomplishments. Perhaps with the absence of a CFO, I could take on more responsibilities and build a longer career at the organization. Hopeful and reenergized, I found new energy.
The first day back at work after the ominous phone call, I had a meeting with the CEO, who would now be interim CFO and the commercial finance director. We discussed expectations going forward and a plan to keep things moving with as little disruption as possible. Easy enough.
Unfortunately, this same month, I would also say farewell to my intern, who had stayed an extra six months- a full year in all — with me to help finalize the improvements within operational controlling. With his departure, I would now be tasked with doing more work than ever with fewer people.
As we rolled into the budget and standard cost reset season again in the Summer, very little changed. I asked the commercial finance director for additional support from her team as she had more resources- but she politely declined.
